Liverpool saw their three-game winning streak end with a stalemate against Spurs.

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Tottenham in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Reds dropped two points in their close title race with Manchester City while Spurs failed to reclaim their top-four spot!

Man City and Arsenal win the night!

Unlike what we have seen in their recent games, Liverpool started the match by taking a conservative approach to the game.

The Reds managed to avoid conceding the opener throughout the uneventful first half. However, their plans backfired when Spurs doubled down on their attacks after the interval.

Following a brilliant piece of buildup play, Ryan Sessegnon provided a cutback assist for Son Heung-Min in front of the goal. The South Korean star then nodded home from close range to put Tottenham ahead at Anfield.

Liverpool immediately started their efforts to get back into the game. However, they were not able to score the equalizer until the 74th minute.

Luis Diaz’s strike from behind the box deflected off Rodrigo Bentancur before finding its way into the bottom-left corner of the net.

Liverpool intensified their attacks to complete their comeback in the final ten minutes. But a combination of tired legs and Spurs’ solid defence prevented them from clinching the match-winner.

What’s next for Liverpool and Tottenham?

Liverpool go top of the Premier League table, but they could see their gap to Man City increase if the Citizens manage to beat Newcastle tomorrow.

On the other hand, Spurs stay behind Arsenal, who remain in the fourth place on the table with a game at hand.

The two north London sides face off next week while Liverpool meet Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.
