Liverpool keep the Premier League title race alive by claiming back-to-back victories.
Liverpool defeated Everton 2-0 in their Premier League derby on Sunday. A familiar attacking display in the second half sealed another crucial victory for the Reds.
Origi from the bench!
Liverpool tried their best to avoid conceding the opener in the first half while gradually piling up the pressure from both sides. Everton found a few half-chances to score too, but none of the two sides managed to find the back of the net before the half-time whistle.
Liverpool intensified the pressure on the Toffees’ backline as soon as the second period started. Following 15 minutes of non-stop attacks, Andrew Robertson finally broke the deadlock just after the hour-mark.
Everton came close to scoring the equalizer when Demarai Gray missed a great chance in the 72nd minute. However, the Reds managed to finally secure the win through Divock Origi in the 85th minute.
The Belgian striker did what he is famous for when he received a cross from Luis Diaz right in front of the goal. A nod from Origi was enough to double Liverpool’s lead and end Everton’s hopes of getting back into the game.
