The Liverpool pair picked up injuries during their side’s Champions League clash against Benfica.

Jurgen Klopp did not include Mohamed Salah in his starting lineup against Benfica on Wednesday. A 3-3 draw at Anfield saw the Reds qualify for the semi-finals, while Salah came off the bench to play for around 30 minutes.

The Egyptian star picked up a knock during his cameo appearance. However, Klopp says his injury is not serious, confirming he will play against Manchester City on Saturday.

“It looks like Mo Salah will be fine, he also picked up a knock on Wednesday night’, Klopp told a pre-match press conference.

Salah replaced Diogo Jota, who had suffered an injury during the game. Despite being positive about the Portuguese’s chances of playing against City, Klopp says the player must undergo further tests.

“Diogo (Jota) has a good chance he will be all right, but we need to have a closer look tomorrow. That’s it.”

The Reds held Man City to a 2-2 draw at Etihad last Sunday. They now need to eliminate the Citizens to secure a place in the FA Cup final.

The Citizens themselves are dealing with new injury setbacks in their squad. Both Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne suffered injuries during City’s goalless draw against Atletico Madrid.

In a post-match interview, Pep Guardiola admitted the tight schedule has put the Citizens under immense pressure.

“We played three days ago, travelled, came here, have a lot of injuries now and I don’t know what will happen in the next weeks,” the City boss admitted.

“We cannot play all the time and score four or five goals, we are human beings – we come from a difficult game against Liverpool.”

“We are in big trouble.”
