Ace Football presents a detailed view of the fixtures played in the 25th gameweek of the Bundesliga campaign.

Another matchday of Bundesliga action ended on Sunday as teams locked horns with their opponents during the weekend. Eight matches took place across Germany while the league’s top-six race saw a few major changes.

As we prepare for another exciting week of Bundesliga football, let’s review our main takeaways from Matchday 25.

Freiburg ready to reclaim their Top-4 spot

Freiburg held RB Leipzig to a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday. It came after two consecutive wins that saw them climb back up to sixth place on the table.

The Breisgau Brazilians will host Wolfsburg next week, who have slipped to 12th place on the table. Let’s see if they can continue their impressive run against the out-of-form Wolves.

Having ended Leipzig’s three-game winning streak, Freiburg are now only two points away from leapfrogging Hoffenheim from the fourth spot.

Dortmund struggle to close the gap to Bayern

Following Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw against Leverkusen, Dortmund had a chance to close the gap to league leaders Bayern Munich.

However, the Black and Yellows were not able to beat Augsburg as they drew 1-1 against their Bavarian opponents. Augsburg clinched a late equalizer while Dortmund remained nine points behind Bayern.

In the absence of Erling Haaland, it has gotten harder for Dortmund to score. However, this week they will lock horns with Arminia, who have one of the worst defensive stats of the entire league.

Hoffenheim prepare to meet the league leaders in top form

Following a slow start to the season, Hoffenheim have bounced back to claim the fourth spot on the table. A 1-0 win over Koln saw Die Kraichgauer continue their run of four back-to-back wins this weekend.

They will face the ultimate top-4 test when they meet Bayern this weekend. Their closest rivals, Leverkusen, held the Bavarians to a draw at Allianz Arena last week. Let’s see if Sebastian Hoeness’ side will have a chance to resist the Bundesliga giants at their home stadium on Saturday.

Hertha continue Bundesliga free-fall

Hertha have been dipping in and out of the relegation zone since the start of the season. They managed to get themselves as far as 13th place on the table last month.

However, a dreaded run of five defeats in their last six games has seen the Berliners slip back to the 16th spot. Their latest defeat came against Eintracht Frankfurt, where they suffered a 4-1 smashing at the hands of Oliver Glasner’s side.

Hertha will meet another one of the league’s most fierce attacking lines when they meet Monchengladbach this weekend.

Bochum jump closer toward top-half finish

When Bochum shocked Bayern with a 4-2 win last month, fans blamed the Bundesliga leaders for being too shaky in their backline. However, the victory had come after a three-match unbeaten run.

The newly-promoted side still struggle to win games, but they have remained consistent in avoiding defeats. A 2-1 win over Furth on Saturday saw Die Unabsteigbaren climb up to 11th place on the table, only two points behind Eintracht Frankfurt.

This week, the two sides meet as Bochum tries to leapfrog their opponents from the top half of the Bundesliga standings.
