The Frenchman missed a chance that could’ve proved costly in Arsenal’s crucial win against Wolves.
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has promised the club’s fans to improve after missing a goal opportunity he should have put away.
The Gunners claimed a first win of 2022 after overcoming Wolves 1-0 at Molineux. Gabriel scored the all-important winner on Thursday, after bundling in a flick-on from Lacazette in the 25th-minute.
That said, Arsenal could’ve avoided a tense end to the match with 10-man – after Gabriel Martinelli’s second-half dismissal – had Lacazette not squandered a one-on-one chance against Wolves keeper Jose Sa beforehand.
Instead of finding the back of the net, the new captain – who has scored just three times this season – saw his effort go wide.
“Disappointed, I know I should score that one, gonna keep working to be back!!” he posted on Twitter afterward. “But happy for the 3 pts and proud of everyone to keep the clean sheet. Thanks to the fans for your support.”

‘Each game is going to be really important’
Speaking to the club’s media, Lacazette said: “In the end we handled the pressure, and to play the end of the game like this, it’s a really good win.
“We deserved it because throughout the game we had chances to score. I had one and should have scored, but in the end the team was strong.”
The 1-0 win against Wolves has moved Arsenal up to fifth in the Premier League table, one point outside the top-four and with two games in hand over fourth-placed West Ham.
“Each game is going to be really important if we want to go to the Champions League,” Lacazette added. “We know in January we were not good enough, so we want to be better to increase our chance for the top four.”
Arsenal will next take on Brentford at home in the Premier League on February 19.
