Arsenal clinched a narrow win at the Molineux Stadium to leapfrog Man United on the Premier League table.

Arsenal defeated Wolves 1-0 in their Premier League game on Wednesday. Ten-man Gunners held on to their first-half winner to end their run of five winless games.

Arsenal are back in the top-four race!

Arsenal dominated the game early on but were not able to get an early opener. However, Mikel Arteta’s men eventually broke Wolves’ initial resistance by converting a corner in the 25th minute.

Wolves defenders managed to avoid a direct header, but Alexandre Lacazzette’s nod was enough to provide Gabriel with an empty net. The Brazilian defender jumped ahead of Wolves defenders and smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The Gunners had several chances to increase their lead in the first ten minutes of the second half. However, two fouls in the course of only two minutes forced the referee to send Gabriel Martinelli off nine minutes past the hour-mark.

Being a man down, Arsenal retreated into their own half while they let the hosts claim more possession. Nelson Semedo came the closest to scoring an equalizer in the 83rd minute, but his header was cleared off the line.

Arsenal’s solid defensive performance after Martinelli’s red card secured them three crucial points in the race for a top-four finish.

The Gunners leapfrog Manchester United to go fifth in the Premier League, only a point behind fourth-placed Hammers. On the other hand, Wolves slipped to eighth place as they saw their three-match winning streak end.

Arsenal will face Brentford in their next league game on Saturday while Wolves meet Tottenham a day later.
