The Blaugrana confirm the signing of Adama Traore on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Barcelona have finalized a deal to bring back their former academy player Adama Traore on a loan deal. The Spanish giants have an option to sign the player on a permanent contract for €30m next summer.
“Barcelona and Wolverhampton Wanderers have come to an agreement for the loan of Adama Traore until June 30, 2022,” Barca’s official statement reads.
“The Blaugrana will take on the player’s registration and have an open purchase option.
“Adama Traore’s presentation as a new first-team player will take place on Wednesday, February 2 without public attendance. The club will soon reveal further details.”
Traore joined Aston Villa after leaving Barca’s academy in 2015. After an uninspiring first season at Villa Park, the Spanish midfielder moved to Middlesbrough. It was in the Championship side that Traore found his feet in English football and eventually moved to Wolves in 2018.
Tottenham were eager to secure Traore’s signing this winter. However, he decided to join his youth club despite having a better salary offer from the north London side.
The 26-year-old has reportedly agreed to join the club on a five-year contract if they sign him permanently. He will be able to play his second debut for Barca when they face Atletico Madrid in a crucial La Liga match on February 6.
