Sadio Mane was forced off the pitch due to a head injury during Senegal’s AFCON win over Cape Verde.
Sadio Mane scored for Senegal during their Africa Cup of Nations win over Cape Verde Islands but had to be subbed off due to a head injury.
The Liverpool man fired home from a set-piece after 62 minutes but suffered a nasty clash of heads with Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, who was sent off for the incident.
Mane then left the pitch shortly complaining of a headache in the 70th minute. Bamba Dieng scored the second goal for Senegal who progressed to the quarter-finals. However, Mane could be a doubt for the game that’s scheduled to take place in Limbe on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was helped back onto his feet by his teammates before being assisted off the field by the national team’s medical staff. Liverpool are still awaiting an update on his condition.
“It was a difficult game because Cape Verde were very organised,” said Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly after the game.
“It was even more difficult after the first red card as they really ran around a bit but we can be happy we did the job.”
