The Chelsea boss confirms the club are open to letting the midfielder leave on a loan deal.
Ross Barkley has played only 151 minutes of Premier League football this season. Even when Chelsea had several injuries in their midfield, Barkley remained way down the pecking order.
The 28-year-old’s situation has attracted several suitors, who hope to secure his signature this winter. Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the club will allow the player to leave on loan.
Speaking after his side’s 5-1 win over Chesterfield in FA Cup, the German boss said: “We haven’t discussed it yet [loan deal]. It depends on what Ross wants and what possibilities there are and what makes sense. Let’s see.
“There’s always a chance it is not like it is the FA Cup and here’s your chance. There’s always a chance to make it onto the pitch, especially with a lot of Covid and injury cases.
“The situation has not changed, not for Ross, not for anybody else.”
Barkley was close to leaving the club in the summer transfer window. However, he ended up staying at the club as the club failed to find a suitor.
This January, a host of Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing Barkley. Newcastle, Burnley, Leeds United, and Everton are all eyeing moves, with Newcastle leading the race.
Despite Barkley’s lack of game time, Daily Mail believes the midfielder wants to stay at Stamford Bridge. The English source claims Barkley is positive over his future at the club and wants to fight for his place.
