Real Madrid cruised past Valencia as they extended their lead on top of the La Liga table.

Real Madrid defeated Valencia 4-1 in their La Liga game on Saturday. The Blancos bounced back from their unexpected defeat against Getafe while Valencia went further down the league table.

Benzema + Vinicius = 🔥

Valencia started the game by surprising Real Madrid with a few initial attacks. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side gained control over the game after the first ten minutes.

Following half a dozen missed chances, Karim Benzema finally broke the deadlock by scoring a penalty in the 43rd minute. The Blancos continued their attacks as soon as the second period started.

Vinicius Junior danced behind a few Valencia defenders before doubling Real Madrid’s lead in the 52nd minute. The Brazilian then completed his brace only nine minutes later as he nodded home Marco Asensio’s blocked shot.

Real Madrid came close to extending their lead a few more times. But it was Valencia who managed to get one back thanks to the night’s second penalty call. Courtois saved the first shot with a brilliant save, but Goncalo Guedes converted the rebound to make it 3-1.

The hosts intensified their efforts to extend their lead in the final ten minutes. The Blancos midfielders constantly threatened Valencia’s backline with through balls while they struggled to escape the pressure. Karim Benzema scored his second goal of the night after receiving a wonderful assist from Ferland Mendy.

The 4-1 win takes Real Madrid eight points clear of Sevilla on top of the table. The Blancos will now prepare to face Barcelona in the Supercopa on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Valencia remain in ninth place after suffering their first defeat in nine games. Next up for the Bats is a Copa del Rey match against Cartagena.
