PSG will have to play without the services of two of their first-team players against Lyon.
PSG have confirmed Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler have tested positive for COVID-19. The pair are the latest entries in the club’s long list of Covid cases.
Layvin Kurzawa, Danilo Pereira, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Rico are the other PSG players who are currently self-isolating.
Lionel Messi missed out on the French side’s 4-0 win over Vannes on Monday. However, the Argentine returned a negative test on Thursday, meaning he will be back in time for the Lyon clash.
However, Mauricio Pochettino will certainly have to deal with the absence of Di Maria and Draxler.
An official statement from the club reads: “Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler tested positive this morning for Covid-19.
“They have been placed in solitary confinement and are subject to the appropriate health protocol.”
Di Maria has retained his important role in PSG’s attacking line despite the last summer’s additions to the team. The Argentine has featured in 16 games across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
On the other hand, Draxler’s fitness problems have continued this season. The German midfielder has made 14 appearances this season, registering two goals and two assists in the process.
