Lukaku tells former teammate to NOT join Chelsea in shocking interview

The Blues striker has made some comments that will surely not go down well with the fans.

Romelu Lukaku has told former Inter Milan teammate Lautaro Martinez to reject any approach from Chelsea.

The Belgian made these comments in an interview with Sky Sport Italia from last month, where he also revealed a desire to return to Inter while still at the peak of his abilities and his current struggles under Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

In the same interview, Lukaku admitted he misses his former strike partner Lautaro. However, rather than welcome him to Stamford Bridge, he jokingly urged the Argentine to wait for his return to Inter.

“I miss Lautaro Martinez, I could die on the pitch for him since day one I met him,” said Lukaku.

“Lautaro Martinez coming here with me at Chelsea in the future? No… Lautaro, you can stay in Milan, I’ll be back there [laughs].”

Lukaku and Lautaro scored and assisted a combined 125 goals during their two seasons together at San Siro. Their link-up play made Inter one of Europe’s most prolific clubs. It also played a vital role behind the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title success last term, their first in over a decade.

‘I thought I was going to Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Bayern’

The 28-year-old further disclosed during the interview that he eyed a move to Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich before ending up at Chelsea for a club-record €115 million fee last summer.

But had Inter offered him the new contract he sought, then a transfer would never have happened in the first place.

“There are three teams at the top level: Barcelona, Real, Bayern,” he added.

“All the players dream of them, that’s the truth. I thought I was going to one of those clubs after Inter. This didn’t happen, and I said: ‘there is only one club where I can imagine myself, it’s Chelsea.’

“If there had been the offer of a new contract from Inter last summer as I wanted… we would not be doing this interview now here from London, but quietly from Milano.”
