John Terry has found his way back to his beloved club as the former Chelsea defender steps up to take a new role at Stamford Bridge.
John Terry has made his comeback to Chelsea, but this time as an academy coaching consultant as confirmed by the club.
The defender made his first start as a Blues player back in 1998 and went on to put his mark in the history books at Stamford Bridge. He made 713 outings for Chelsea during his 19-year run at the Premier League club.
Moreover, he also managed to gather 67 goals and 29 assists, becoming the most successful captain in the Blues’ history. Terry also lifted 17 trophies with Chelsea, which included five Premier League titles, one Champions League and five FA Cups.
However, Terry left at the end of his final agreement in 2017 and quit football a year after that following a short stint at Aston Villa.
Further, the Chelsea legend continued working with the Villans as an assistant coach until now. And he has now found a place as a coach with the club he most adored.
Terry will begin his part-time consultancy role at Chelsea from the next month. The 41-year-old was frequently spotted on the club’s training ground in recent months.
He will now work with the youngsters at the club. The former Blues centre-back posted three blue heart emojis on Twitter. Whereas, Chelsea’s head of youth development Neil Bath announced Terry’s arrival on the club’s official website.
“We are delighted to be welcoming John back to Cobham in a role that will involve coaching. And mentoring the next generation of young players in our Academy.”
“It goes without saying that John’s experience in the game, both as a world-class player and more recently as an assistant coach in the Premier League, will be invaluable for everyone in the building.”
“He will be a great mentor for our players and a fantastic asset to our coaching staff. We can’t wait for him to get started.”
