Another series of COVID-19 cases has forced yet another league fixture to be called off.
The Premier League has postponed the meeting between Leeds United and Aston Villa at Elland Road on Tuesday.
The decision came amid a series of positive coronavirus cases at Leeds. The English league had already called off the Yorkshire club’s Boxing Day trip to Liverpool, and it has now postponed the next game two days later as well.
While Leeds had assured they had no new positive test results for COVID-19, those with the virus are still in isolation. Therefore, they were short of ‘recognized first-team players’.
“The board accepted the postponement application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match,” confirmed a statement from the Premier League.
