The Blues might be one of the strongest title contenders – domestic as well as European – but they haven’t exactly been enjoying smooth sailing lately.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says he will not hesitate to resort to “crazy stuff” in order to deal with the injury crisis in his squad.
Chelsea enjoyed a bright start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign are stumbling lately, having won just two of their last five league games.
Fitness issues for players have heavily influenced their decline, with the Blues having to deal with the absence of several key men in recent weeks – midfielders N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic and defenders Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah.
“We have again Jorginho a doubt for Sunday because he’s in pain. We have Ruben Loftus-Cheek a doubt because he’s in pain,” Tuchel told the press (via Chelseafc.com).
“I don’t know if it is possible for them to travel with us tomorrow and play on Sunday.
“So maybe we start with N’Golo and Mateo? Would that be fair [on them]? No. Would that be possible? I don’t know. But maybe we do it.
“So let’s see. Maybe we are forced to do the crazy stuff that we would normally not do. But what’s normal, we miss key players and need to find solutions.”
