Antony Martial might secure a move to PSG amid his struggles for game time at Man United.
Antony Martial has continued to struggle for regular game time this season. The French forward has featured in seven games for Man United, starting only two of them.
Martial has three years left on his current deal, but his recent form has intensified the speculations around his future. Earlier this week, the player’s agent confirmed his client is keen to leave Man United this winter.
The player is not positive about his future under Ralf Rangnick, looking to get regular game time elsewhere. The agent did not reveal which clubs have inquired Martial, but French sources have linked him with a big move.
According to RMC Sport, two French sides are interested in signing the Man United forward. Lyon are eying a loan move for Martial in January, while PSG are considering him as Kylian Mbappe’s potential replacement.
A move back to Ligue 1 seems logical as the 26-year-old wants to regain his best form, where he originally rose to prominence. The Frenchman moved to Man United from Monaco in 2015 before signing a new deal in 2019.
Many observers believe Martial will have little chance to establish himself as a starter under Rangnick. In an interview with Sky Sports, Man United legend Garry Neville spoke about the Frenchman’s potential exit from the club.
“I think that now the time has come. Manchester United have always been wary of getting burned, of him leaving for £25m and then going on to become a £100m player because he is a special talent.
“I just don’t think he’ll ever work at Old Trafford to the extent they’ve got Rashford, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani, other players as well.
“I just think now is the time for him to leave and go and play regular football so I think it’s the right time.”
