Trevoh Chalobah might be the next England youngster who switches allegiance to another country.
In recent months, Lukas Nmecha and Jamal Musiala have switched their international allegiance to Germany. Both players had represented England at junior level but preferred to continue their international careers with Die Mannschaft.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah might be the next English youngster who switches his international allegiance. The player responded to a question about Sierra Leone’s qualification for this year’s AFCONs in a new interview.
“Obviously yes that is my country and I am really pleased, they have done well to qualify but my focus right now is on the club,” Chalobah said (via Goal.com).
Chalobah’s Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger is also originally from Sierra Leone. However, he opted to play for Germany, where he was born.
Chalobah earned a new long-term contract at Chelsea earlier this month, extending his stay until 2026. The 22-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for England as the Three Lions enjoy a great abundance of top-class talents in their defence.
The Blues defender might get a chance to make his first Champions League start against Juventus on Tuesday.
Chelsea will then lock horns with Manchester United in their next league game on Sunday.
