Nuno Espirito Santo has faced widespread criticism for his side’s recent performances.
Tottenham failed to register a single shot on target in their 3-0 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.
The Spurs continue their poor run of form under Espirito Santo as they sit eighth in the Premier League.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are holding crunch discussions over the coach’s future on Sunday evening. As a result, the Portuguese boss could be sacked after only 17 games in charge.
Antonio Conte topped Tottenham’s wish list when they sacked Jose Mourinho in April. The Spurs’ interest in the former Inter manager might be re-ignited after the potential sacking of Espirito Santo.
According to Tutto Mercato, Tottenham are working hard to bring Conte to north London. However, the Italian coach has also attracted interest from Manchester United, which might complicate the move.
In an interview earlier this week, Conte answered a question about his potential move back to Premier League.
“Money is not my obsession,” Conte stated.
“I look at projects and I’m ready to stay at home if they don’t convince me. I like difficult challenges but if there is something with a club that does not convince me, I prefer to say: no, thank you.”
