Nuno Espirito Santo will have to field an enfeebled starting XI for the Europa Conference League fixture on Thursday.
Tottenham will be 10 first-team players for the upcoming Vitesse clash as manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that none of the outfield players who played on the weekend would be available for selection.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will be the biggest misses for Tottenham. Other absentees will include Lucas Moura, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, Emerson Royal, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, and Oliver Skipp.
“We worked today, we prepared for the game with the players that are going to start tomorrow,” Nuno said at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday (via Evening Standard).
“Then we had a good training session with players that are going to stay. They’re going to work [at Hotspur Way] tomorrow and then we’ll join all the group [back together] on Friday.
“[Assistant coach] Ian [Cathro ]’s going to stay with them. He’s going to stay because it’s important for preparation in terms of the game on Sunday.”
Asked if he has two separate squads, one for Premier League and another for the Europa Conference League team, Nuno responded: “No, it’s not fair to say.
“It’s a situation that we decided for this specific week. We considered that it’s the best way to go and compete well tomorrow and compete well on Sunday.
“It’s not about [a lack of respect for the competition]. If someone gets that interpretation, I cannot do anything.”
