Neymar drops an unsettling hint on his Brazil future

In an interview about his football career, Neymar opened about his future with the Brazil national team.

Neymar has admitted that it’s unlikely he will represent Brazil in the 2026 World Cup after the next year’s edition in Qatar.

The 29-year-old sees the 2022 World Cup as his final one as he feels the game has taken a toll on his body and mind, leaving him with just one last chance of winning football’s biggest tournament.

"I don't know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football any more."

“I think it’s my last World Cup,” he told DAZN in the documentary, ‘Neymar & The Line Of Kings’.

“I see it as my last because I don’t know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football anymore. So I’ll do everything to turn up well, do everything to win with my country, to realize my greatest dream since I was little. And I hope I can do it.”

Neymar has represented Brazil in two World Cups. The closest he has come to winning the competition was in 2014, where the Selecao reached the semi-final stage on home soil.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward is Brazil’s second-highest goalscorer in history on 69 goals in 113 caps, just eight goals adrift of Pele’s record tally of 77 goals.
