The Spurs coach holds the Blues boss in high regard, evident from his statements ahead of the London derby.
Chelsea’s success under Thomas Tuchel is “no surprise at all” for Nuno Espirito Santo, who believes his opposite number has “enormous quality.”
Chelsea were more or less down in the dumps when Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard in January last season, especially considering the enourmous sum of money they had spent on squad recruitment over the summer.
The German tactician proved to be an instant improvement and eventually helped the team secure a top-four Premier League finish – something that was seeming increasingly uncertain under his predecessor – while also leading them to Champions League glory.
Level on points with the league leaders, the Blues look like strong title contenders early in the new campaign.
“No there’s no surprise at all,” Nuno told reports (via Football London). “Thomas already did an amazing job at Borussia Dortmund, fantastic at PSG.
“He and his coaching staff have enormous quality so I am not surprised by the success of Thomas, because you can see how good they play.
“Very good team. Thomas [Tuchel] is doing an amazing job. Lots of strengths, they have an amazing squad, talented players they play good football, they are organised they are intense.
“They are European champions so we must value that as we do to all of the opponents but Sunday we will compete, that’s a promise.”
