Ibrahimovic: I'm the best, Ronaldo & Messi don't have more quality than me

The Swede doesn’t consider himself to be a lesser player than the footballing icons, who have dominated the game and taken it to a whole new level.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic firmly believes that he is “the best in the world” and, on this account, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi “have nothing more” than him quality-wise.

While his aforementioned claims are quite questionable, Ibrahimovic is undoubtedly one of the best players of his generation.

In a career spanning over two decades now, the veteran striker has played for a host of top European clubs including Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.

He has made well over 700 senior appearances in total so far, scoring a remarkable 484 goals in the process.

At an age when many players are already retired or seriously contemplate hanging up their boots, the 39-year-old is still going strong and is putting great shifts in one of the best leagues in the world, evident from his last season’s tally of 20 goal contributions in 27 games.

“If we are talking about intrinsic quality, then they have nothing more than me,” Ibrahimovic told in an interview with France Football when asked about Ronaldo and Messi.

“If we consider trophies, then yes, I didn’t win the Champions League.

“I don’t know what criteria they use to decide who gets the award, because I am not obsessed with it. When a collective works, the individual inevitably benefits from that. An individual cannot do well if the team isn’t solid.

“[Do] I miss the Ballon d’Or? No, if anything it’s the Ballon d’Or that is missing me.

“Deep down, I think I’m the best in the world.”
