The Gunners might have stumbled out of the gates in their first two league outings but they looked unstoppable in the Carabao Cup clash.
Mikel Arteta was pleased to see Arsenal “give the fans something to cheer” in their 6-0 thrashing of West Brom in the Carabao Cup second round on Wednesday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was afforded his first start of the season, and the forward made sure to deliver as he bagged a hat-trick. The others on target at the Hawthorns were Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka, and Alexandre Lacazette.
Martin Odegaard’s performance was another talking point of the match, with the attacking midfielder putting in a fine shift while also registering an assist in his first appearance since his permanent move from Real Madrid.
“I’m really pleased to win tonight, to score six goals away from home, to get a clean sheet and to be in the next round,” Arteta told during his post-match press conference.
“But I’m even more pleased about the preparation during the last two days and the togetherness and dedication the players are showing, how much they want to turn the situation around.
“I’m really happy for them and for the fans – that we can give them something to cheer, because we had a lot of supporters here tonight.”
