Throwing away a two-goal lead and ending up dropping two points, the Old Lady are off to a stumbling start to the new league campaign.

With the scoreline tied at 2-2 in the dying moments, Cristiano Ronaldo thought he had won the game for Juventus with a trademark header – but it turned out he was wrong.

Ronaldo had even removed his shirt in celebration of the goal that he was confident was a last-gasp winner. However, his bliss was quickly turned into distress when the VAR, after a few minutes of deliberation, chalked off the goal due to offside.

The Portuguese forward, surprisingly, started on the bench and was afforded only 30 minutes or so by Massimiliano Allegri, who will not be too happy with his decision.

Juve needed only three minutes to open the scoring, with Paulo Dybala tucking home after being teed up by Rodrigo Bentancur inside the box.

Juan Cuadrado then doubled the visitors’ lead 20 minutes later after latching onto an exquisite over-the-top pass from Dybala, bursting into the box, and firing his effort into the far corner.

Wojciech Szczesny was at fault for both of Udinese’s goals. The goalkeeper gave away a penalty that Udinese used to get back into the match while he fluffed his lines and gifted possession to the opponents that resulted in them scoring the equalizer late in the game.

All in all, it was a pretty dismal display from Juventus in their opening match of the 2021-22 Serie A campaign.
