The Gunners boss took away some positives from their defeat in the north London derby but wasn’t happy with the outcome.

Mikel Arteta demands from his players to be “more prepared and better” in the matches to come after Arsenal were beaten by Tottenham.

Arsenal paid a visit to local rivals Tottenham on Sunday for the friendly Mind Series clash as a part of their pre-season schedule.

A sole goal was enough to settle the tie, with Son Heung-min striking late to hand the hosts a deserved victory.

“To lose any game… to lose against them obviously even more,” Arteta told the Arsenal media after the full-time whistle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Take the positives and learn and for the next time be more prepared and better.

“We took a lot of good things. We played with a lot of kids as well who did extremely well today, so I think it’s good for the preparation.”

Arsenal, who had a forgettable 2020-21, kick off the new Premier League campaign on Friday by taking a trip to Brentford.

“Yeah, it’s always great to start [with a positive result],” added Arteta when asked about the importance of starting the season with a win.

“It’s a tough place and a team that’s been playing together for a long time and the first game is always tricky and they are a really good opponent.”
