A former Barca chief has confirmed the midfielder’s intention to move back to familiar surroundings.
Miralem Pjanic “would like to return to Juventus”, claims ex-Barcelona director Ariedo Braida.
Pjanic joined Barcelona from Juventus in the summer of 2020 in a deal that saw Arthur Melo move in the other direction.
The midfielder was expected to play a starring role for the La Liga giants last season, but things did not go according to the script.
In what turned out to be a subpar debut season for him, Pjanic was restricted to just 19 appearances in the league while he failed to make a single goal contribution in the 30 games he played in all competitions.
The 31-year-old Bosnian has been deemed surplus to requirements by Ronald Koeman, if rumors are to be believed, and has been linked with a reunion with a manager under who he played some of his best football.
Talking to Tuttosport, Braida, who served as the sporting director for Barcelona for four years, has now confirmed those rumors.
“I met Pjanic three to four days ago in Barcelona, where I was for personal reasons. We met by chance near Camp Nou and we talked,” he said.
“He would like to return to Juventus. [Maximilliano] Allegri certainly know him better than anyone.”
