The Gunners boss will be determined to tie all the loose ends in his team before the start of the 2021-22 season.
Mikel Arteta has opened up on the objectives he has for Arsenal players and the team as a whole in the pre-season.
The new Premier League season starts on August 13, and Arsenal will be facing newly-promoted Brentford in their opening fixture.
Arsenal will be hoping the upcoming season plays out nothing like their last one as they endured a disastrous 2020-21, ending the season trophyless and failing to even secure European football qualification.
Fortunately, the Gunners have more time to build momentum this summer, as compared to the last one when they were forced to cut short their preparations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Obviously the physical aspect is very important. After five weeks, the players need to get in good shape and the best possible condition to compete at the levels that the Premier League requires,” Arteta told the club’s website.
“Then mentally, we need to prepare the team with the ideas that we have, with the values that we have, with the ambition that we want to take into the league.
“Third, to get the cohesion of the team right, the understanding of the game, what we are looking for, our game model, our principles, and how we’re going to develop that in the next five weeks to get to the Premier League in the best possible stage.”
