Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney is out of Scotland’s Euro 2020 opener against the Czech Republic.
A minor training injury is the reason behind Kieran Tierney’s absence from Scotland’s showdown with the Czech Republic in Group D.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke revealed before kick-off that Tierney had suffered a ‘little niggle’ during the week, but he is hopeful the Arsenal star will be available for the trip to England on Friday.
Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson will start as Clarke’s chosen wing-backs instead at Hampden Park.
“Kieran picked up a little niggle through the week in training. Not ready for this one, hopefully ready for the next one,” the Scotland boss told BBC.
Assistant coach John Carver added on Tierney: “He’s on a different programme.
“There are a few different players in the group on different programmes and he’s one of them.
“Everybody is different and there were a couple of guys who didn’t train this morning to do their own little bits and pieces so everybody is fine.”
