Europa League champions Villarreal have announced their second signing of the summer transfer window in Juan Foyth.

Villarreal have signed loan star Juan Foyth on a permanent deal from Tottenham.

The 23-year-old becomes the club’s second signing this summer, with Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi set to join in July on a free transfer.

Despite only making 16 appearances in La Liga due to injury problems, Foyth did enough to impress in his season-long loan deal. Therefore, Villarreal have activated a reported €15 million option to make his stay permanent.

The Argentine defender has signed a five-year contract with the Spanish club until June 2026.

“Villarreal CF have taken up the purchase option on Juan Foyth, who played for the Yellows on loan during the 2020-21 season,” read a club statement.

“The Argentine player will be a ‘groguet’ for the next five campaigns (until June 2026).”

Foyth leaves Spurs with just 32 appearances to his name after joining the club from Estudiantes in the summer of 2017.

He is currently on international duty with Argentina ahead of the upcoming Copa America tournament.
