Barcelona president Joan Laporta has dropped his clearest indication yet on Ronald Koeman’s future as manager.
Joan Laporta has hinted that Ronald Koeman will continue as Barcelona manager for next season.
The 58-year-old completed his first signing since winning a second term as the club’s president on Monday by completing a free transfer for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

The acquisition of such a renowned goalscorer for free is naturally a coup. But Laporta wasn’t done there. Aside from suggesting more signings would follow, the Catalan also provided a promising update on Koeman.
Despite having a year left on his contract, the Dutchman’s position is in doubt. His relationship with the club has hit a snag recently, with Laporta open to considering all options for next season.
“We said that we were opening a period of reflection about Koeman, we have to evaluate what went well and not so well last season,” said the Barcelona president at Aguero’s unveiling as per Marca.
“The wish is to respect the contract, bringing together criteria which we need to talk about still.
“The conversations are going very well, the reflection period was necessary.”
Deals for Memphis Depay, Georginio Wijnaldum, Eric Garcia, and Emerson are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
Laporta has also claimed contract talks with Barcelona captain Lionel Messi are ‘going well’.
