The full-back might be heading back to England but admits he is unsure about what the future holds for him.
Diogo Dalot says it was a “real pleasure” playing for AC Milan as he feels he “improved a lot tactically” and “met beautiful people” during his loan spell at the club.
Dalot played a prominent role in helping Milan return to the Champions League after an eight-year break. He made 21 league appearances as the Rossoneri finished second in the Serie A standings, two places above rivals Juventus.
The defender will now return to a club where he found opportunities hard to come by, having made just 11 appearances across all competitions in 2019/20 with Manchester United before relocating to Italy.
Tied to a contract with Man United until 2023, he has been linked with joining Stefano Pioli’s squad on a permanent basis – but Dalot doesn’t know where his future lies.
“I like to become more and more complete,” he said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The Italians love football, they always talk about it, and being part of this culture has been a fantastic experience. And on the pitch, I feel I have improved a lot tactically.
“There are some defensive aspects I learned here and it was fantastic to develop these qualities too.
“That’s not the only thing either, as I improved in pressing high and recovering the ball as soon as possible. Very useful stuff. I say that I had a fantastic year and met beautiful people.
“It was a real pleasure to play for Milan but now I think about the Euros and I really don’t know [on his future] what will happen.”
