The Lyon midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, but the Gunners were supposedly put off by his price tag.

Olympique Lyon have reportedly decided to significantly lower their valuation of Houssem Aouar in what comes as a major boost for Arsenal.

Arsenal were understood to be in the race to sign Aouar in the previous summer transfer window. Having played a key role in Lyon’s run up to the Champions League semi-finals, the midfielder, who scored nine goals and produced 10 assists in 2019/20, was also linked with Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old ended up staying at Lyon, with no club willing to match his reported €60 million price tag amid the financial crisis. However, as per L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side are now willing to let go of their prized asset for as low as half of what they previously demanded after their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Aouar will be allowed to leave Lyon if an offer in the range of €25 – €30 million arrives this summer.

Arsenal decided to go after Thomas Partey last summer after they were priced out of a deal for the French playmaker but have been afforded a great opportunity to reignite their interest in him this summer.
