Initially expected to remain sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Frenchman has made an early return to training.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dropped an optimistic injury update on Anthony Martial ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Roma.
Martial returned from international duty with a strained knee in March and has not featured for Manchester United since.
The forward has missed 10 matches in all competitions for his side so far, with his last appearance coming in the 1-1 draw against AC Milan.
Only five more Premier League games remain for the Red Devils. A Europa League final against Arsenal or Villarreal awaits if they see off Roma – which they should, having won the home leg 6-2. And Solskjaer suggests Martial could be back before the end of the season.
“Anthony’s looking good. He has just about started outside jogging, which is the first step on the rehab of course,” the Norwegian told the club’s official website.
“He’s done most of the work in the gym and to see him out there getting some fresh air is good and hopefully we will see him before the season is out.
“He’s supporting the team, he wants to be a part of the final and he’s working hard to be available before that.”
