Andreas Christensen says Chelsea are ready to put in their best foot and dig in deep against Real Madrid in their Champions League return leg.

Andreas Christensen has warned Real Madrid they are in for a ‘horrible night’ as Chelsea aim to book their place in the Champions League final.

The Dane has opened up on the secret to Thomas Tuchel’s success at Stamford Bridge, revealing he orders his players to annoy the life out of their opponents.

It has had the desired effect so far, with Chelsea up to fourth in the Premier League, through to the FA Cup final, and 90 minutes away from an all-English clash with Manchester City to be crowned champions of Europe.

Key to Tuchel’s success has been his side’s incredible defensive record, which has seen them keep 18 clean sheets in 23 games since he arrived in the dugout.

Christensen said to the club’s website: “When we don’t have the ball, we try to be an annoying and horrible team to play against. As soon as we get the ball, we want to play football. That’s our style.

“That’s the players that we have and I think it fits us quite well.”

The center-back, who has been outstanding since Tuchel arrived, also revealed Chelsea are prepared to do whatever is necessary to overcome their rivals.

“It is well-structured, a lot of discipline involved, especially when we don’t have the ball,” he said. “We just want to bring a lot of energy, we can’t let them breathe too much.

“Bring a lot of energy, make the fouls that are needed and as soon as we get the ball, we either take it calm or take quick decisions, play direct – we just want to hurt teams.”
