The Tottenham forward revealed his one great Mourinho regret following the manager’s dismissal last month.

Heung-min Son revealed how ‘really sorry’ he is to have not won silverware with ‘one of the best managers in the world’ in Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham showed Mourinho the door last month following a barren run of results. The Portuguese, who was hired to end Spurs’ long wait for titles, left less than a week before the EFL Cup final against Manchester City.

A drop in results, his defensive tactics, and rumored tense relationships with some players allegedly led to his departure.

But Son, who managed 29 goals and 25 assists in 70 appearances under Mourinho, was sad to see the former Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United leave.

“It is always sad if someone loses their job,” the South Korean star told TV3.

“I also don’t want to talk about it too much, I was working with him for 18 months. It’s been up and down. It’s been good, sometimes we’ve been not so good.

“For me and for my memory, he will still be one of the best managers in the world.

“It’s just so sad that he went without the success, it was really sad because he’s the guy that wins everything.

“This is the only team that he didn’t have success with, so I feel really, really sorry about this kind of thing.

“But he will still be in my memories as he is one of the best managers in the world.”

Ryan Mason has since replaced Mourinho in the dugout on an interim basis until the end of the season.

The former Spurs midfielder has won two of his first three games in charge, but couldn’t avoid a 1-0 defeat to City in the EFL Cup final itself.
