The Red Devils have a better record away from Old Trafford, and Ole Solskjaer has named a weird reason as the issue behind it all.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blamed Manchester United’s poor home form on red banners making it difficult for his players to pick each other out.
The Norwegian revealed United have changed the color of the banners around the perimeter of Old Trafford from red to black after players found it difficult to see each other.
The move comes a day after the 25th anniversary of United’s infamous kit change at Southampton in the Premier League when Sir Alex Ferguson ordered his players to change from their grey kit at half-time because they were struggling to see each other.
United have failed to win their last four European games at Old Trafford, with Solskjaer admitting the color scheme was changed in a bid to try to address that issue.
“If you see the banners around the stadium now, they’re not red anymore,” said Solskjaer as per Sky Sports.
“There’s been a change.”
“We’ve looked into this. There shouldn’t be any reason, really. But some of the players have mentioned, you know, that split second decision you have to make – looking over your shoulder to see if your team-mate’s there or not.”
“It’s the red shirt, on a red background, with the red seats, so we’ve of course tried to change that, along with the anti-racism campaign, of course. So itw as important it wasn’t red anymore.”
