Reports in Germany claim the Bavarians were offered one of the Reds’ stars – but they turned the offer down.

Georginio Wijnaldum, as things stand, is set to leave Liverpool for free at the end of the season with his contract set to expire in June 2021.

Wijnaldum’s future has been a big talking point this season as he is yet to reach an agreement with Liverpool over a contract extension.

The 30-year-old has been a prominent presence in Jurgen Klopp’s team, helping them to Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup success in the last couple of years.

However, it appears his five-year journey at Anfield is about to come to an end at the end of this season.

The Dutch international has been linked with a reunion with his former national team manager Ronald Koeman at FC Barcelona for months, and now with a move to Bayern Munich.

According to German publication AZ, Wijnaldum was recently offered to Bayern. The German and European champions, though, aren’t interested in signing him due to his age and high wage demands.

Bayern, meanwhile, want to land Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach. Neuhaus is tied to Monchengladbach until 2024 but he can leave the club for a transfer fee of €40 million euros via release clause.
