The Welsh winger did not travel along with the Red Devils team to London for their Premier League outing on Sunday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained Daniel James’ absence from Manchester United’s squad to face Tottenham saying the player is out with an injury.

James endured a slow start to the season but has managed to regain his manager’s trust in recent weeks with a string of impressive performances.

The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this term, making six goal contributions.

“We’ll freshen it up but also keep doing the same things that we have done,” the club’s official website quotes Solskjaer. “Also, Dan had an injury from Thursday night, so he couldn’t be with us.”

Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood, who has featured 41 times already in 2020-21, was also dropped to the bench for the crunch clash after a recent injury setback.

Solskjaer added: “Mason has also had some niggles, so we gave him a rest from the start.

“I think everyone is fine. We didn’t do a lot on the training pitch [over the weekend]. We have had meetings, but rest and recovery is the name of the game when you don’t come back until 1am on Friday morning. We’ll be ready.”
