According to recent reports, there is enough reason to believe Sergio Aguero might not leave England after Manchester City’s exit.
Sergio Aguero’s exit from Manchester City was an expected announcement, the Argentine’s time at the Citizens seemed overdue. However, everybody has been quick to judge and think he wants to play at a different competition. FC Barcelona is the most obvious choice due to his friendship with Leo Messi, but that idea could be misguided. According to a recent report from The Evening Standard, Sergio knows that Alan Shearer’s 260 Premier League goals are nearly impossible to reach.
However, he currently stands at 181 and he only has two players who appear more reachable. Joe Cole stands at 187 and Wayne Rooney at 208. This would be the first time in Premier League history that a foreign player gets into the Top 3 of the all time top scorers in the tournament. Even though he wouldn’t betray the Citizens by playing for Manchester United, other clubs are not out of the question.
London Calling for Aguero?
The report suggests that ‘Kun’ Aguero is willing to even give up on Champions League football with the Premier League in his mind. Ending his career as the second highest goal scorer in Premier League history is definitely a target of his predilection. Between the next two or three seasons in English football, ‘Kun’ might not reach Shearer’s numbers but he can easily get past Wayne Rooney.
Another alternative for Aguero might be Tottenham Hotspur, where he might even share the spotlight with Harry Kane. Plus, we still have no idea where Leo Messi will play next season. Those who assume he will stay in Barcelona have no idea what will actually happen, just like everybody else. Aguero would go to FC Barcelona only to play alongside Messi. If this doesn’t happen, there is no reason for ‘Kun’ to leave the Premier League.
