Kante has recovered in time to be available for the upcoming Champions League match – and so have two other members of the Blues squad.

N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham are all in contention to feature in Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg match against Porto, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.

Kante returned from international duty unfit and was forced to miss Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with West Brom. He had also played no part in France’s World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Bosnia-Herzegovina due to a hamstring problem.

Pulisic, who was one of the bright performers for an otherwise substandard Chelsea side on Saturday, also picked up a hamstring injury and had to be withdrawn moments after the start of the second half of the 5-2 humiliation.

Tuchel told in his pre-match press conference, via Sky Sports: “They are fit enough to be in the squad and will be in the squad – all three.

“That’s good news. Christian went off before an injury could happen. He said at half-time he feels like if he continues there will be an injury coming, so we decided to take him off.

“Tammy is in the squad and N’Golo just did a test and will be on the bench. He feels very comfortable, comfortable enough to be on the bench.”
