Calhanoglu casts doubts on Milan future with transfer admission

The Turkish international is edging towards free agency with his San Siro deal set to run out at the end of the season.

Hakan Calhanoglu suggests he still follows Galatasaray while revealing his desire to play for his boyhood club in the future.

Calhanoglu comments could be interpreted as a warning sign amid his unresolved contract situation at AC Milan.

The midfielder was one of the top performers for Stefano Pioli’s men last season and remains a key cog in the team in this one, having contributed seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions so far in 2020/21.

However, the Rossoneri face a race against time to keep hold of their star. He is in the final months of his contract and has been linked with a move away from San Siro.

“I hope to play for Galatasaray in the future,” said Calhanoglu, via Football Italia. “Why not? I got a lion tattoo because I cheer for Galatasaray.”

It has been reported that a difference in demands is serving as a stumbling block in the contract negotiations, with the player seeking a €4.5 million-a-year deal but the club unwilling to offer a package worth more than €3.5 million-a-year.

Manchester United, who would have no problem in meeting his wage demands, are understood to be keen on landing the Turkey international, who is currently away on national duty.
