During that presser, he gave the more politically correct answer about his future with a few subtle digs directed at Florentino Perez.

“For now, I remain calm. All I think about is enjoying this year. Despite my age (35), Santiago Bernabeu said there are no young or old players: there are only good or bad players. I believe I can still play great football for three, four, or even five more years. If the body can hold for longer and I don’t get injured, I think I can still play at the highest level. The focus is on working hard to make that happen and my mentality will always be that way.”
