Ahead of a transcendental match against Real Madrid, Luis Suarez previewed another confrontation with Los Blancos in his career.
Luis Suarez has a unique fortune when he plays against Real Madrid, regardless of the club he represents. Back when he arrived at FC Barcelona from Liverpool, he made his debut against Los Blancos in a match his side lost at the Bernabeu. However, he made a great impression after coming in for Pedro to deliver the only assist of the match for the Blaugrana.
From that moment forward, Luis Suarez has mostly fond memories against Real Madrid. Next weekend, he has a new chance to deliver a deadly blow against one of the greatest rivals of his professional career. Suarez has been one of the most impressive forwards in La Liga this season with a starring role in the race for the Pichichi trophy. Even though the Colchoneros aren’t going through their best moment, this is still a Madrid Derby.
Luis hopes he can deliver against Real Madrid.
“All the games against Real Madrid are special, they are the ones that you want to play and demonstrate [what you can do in],” Suarez said in an interview for LaLiga. “Many players are evaluated on their performances in these kinds of games. They are games [you want] to play. We have to take revenge for the first leg and be able to show that we want to stay top of the league. I always had a competitive personality. I want to show [what I can do], to improve, to show that I can jump over the next obstacle they put for me.
“I’m always hard-headed and I am at a club where many people believe that it is difficult to score many goals, but with the quality of the players around me, it becomes easy. We are a team that has a lot of enthusiasm, the desire to go far, succeed and no one is going to take away our enthusiasm and competitiveness. There are a couple of days left and we will demonstrate for what we are made of. As a player you always have this kind of wishes, to come to a team like Atletico that hasn’t won titles for a long time and to be able to get one.”
