In an interview granted to an English outlet, Joao Felix wanted to preview Atletico Madrid’s Champions League match against Chelsea.
Joao Felix is about to face Chelsea in the Champions League in a two-part qualifier that begins on Tuesday in Bucharest. Atletico Madrid started the season strong in all competitions but they’ve faltered in La Liga recently. However, one of their main goals is to eliminate the Blues in these two games. Unfortunately for the Spanish club, the first-leg cannot take place at the Metropolitano due to coronavirus restrictions.
But they still have a player like Joao Felix, who is one of Diego Simeone’s biggest hopes for this match. In a recent interview granted to Sportsmail, the young player wanted to talk about his favorite Chelsea footballers. Felix also discussed the challenge of trying to reach Mbappe and Haaland’s level of performance. Finally, Joao also opened up about Atletico Madrid’s recent status as one of the Big Three La Liga football clubs.
Felix is ready to face Chelsea.
This is what Felix had to say on Sportsmail: “I like the way he [Mount] plays, the way he likes to drag the ball, the way he touches the ball. I played with Chris Willock in Benfica three or four years ago and he told me that Chelsea has a guy that he sees who is similar to me and he told me it was Mason Mount. A few years later he appeared in Chelsea and I like the way he plays. Chris had told me about him before he appeared in the Premier League, so I was waiting to see him. I hope that I reach that level because Cristiano and Messi reached a level that no other player reached.
“We want to do the same, we want to show the people that we can do that too. Mbappe and Haaland are in a good way to do it and if I reach that level too, it’s very good for me. Normally it was just Real Madrid and Barcelona but people now see that Atletico is a great club too and can fight with Real Madrid and Barcelona for everything. It’s a motivation for us because we are in Atletico and people do not talk too much about us, they talk more about Real Madrid and Barcelona – that’s why we are doing a great season.”
