As Real Madrid gets to the upcoming week in La Liga and the Champions League, Zidane explained he doesn’t get the injury crisis.
Real Madrid currently has several injured players that Zidane won’t be able to use in the next month, at least. Amongst the players who aren’t available, we have Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, and Eden Hazard. Those three alone are top players who give Los Blancos a major boost against the toughest rivals. Zidane doesn’t seem to understand why this is happening to the club but he gets it’s mostly bad luck. As far as physical conditioning is concerned, this is by no means a problem for Real Madrid. Historically, this squad never struggled in this aspect with ‘Zizou’ as the manager.
“I don’t understand. There are a lot of injuries, I’m worried. When I lose a player, as a coach it bothers me. It’s a relapse,” Zidane told reporters via Goal. “I’m sorry for Carvajal. He played 25 minutes very well and I’m upset because he’s very important to us. But I can’t explain the reasoning [behind the injury problems] to you. As a coach, having injuries is the worst. They’ve come back to hurt us again. I only hope that [Carvajal’s injury] is a small one. We’ll see what the injury is and for how long he’ll be out for.”
The Champions League is in danger.
Due to these injury issues, Real Madrid is in real danger of elimination. Atalanta is currently one of the most surprising underdogs in European football, especially over the last couple of years. Gian Piero Gasperini has done a fantastic job with the roster he has and they compete against any club in Europe. Zidane knows about this danger and he is aware they will struggle to win next week.
But first, Real Madrid needs to travel to Valladolid for a complicated La Liga match against the club his friend Ronaldo owns. If Los Blancos get eliminated in the Champions League, it’s very possible ‘Zizou’ could get sacked as the club’s manager. However, few believe this scenario can be considered his fault. What do you think?
