After PSG’s thrashing against Barcelona, Arsene Wenger wanted to send the French giants a clear message on how to handle their future.
PSG has a lot to think about after their smashing victory against Barcelona and Wenger has a good idea. Before the match, there were many doubts about some players’ future and how they would tie to PSG after this season. Lionel Messi has been talked about as the stellar transfer for the summer. Whereas Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were linked to possible exits, especially the youngster who scored a hat-trick last night.
But for Wenger, getting rid of their two current stars is a major mistake. For the legendary manager, keeping Neymar and Kylian Mbappe is an absolute must for PSG’s future. If they want to remain competitive for the next five years, they need to convince their two top players to remain at the club. As far as Messi is concerner, there are many worries that also need to be addressed. Trading Mbappe for the Argentine simply doesn’t seem like a safe bet right now.
Wenger wouldn’t buy Messi either.
The main idea was to possibly sell Kylian Mbappe in order to get Messi next summer. Real Madrid seemed like the most obvious choice for the French youngster to continue his career. But after last night’s performance, Nasser Al-Khelaifi must be thinking about an entirely different strategy. As we all know, getting a player as accomplished as Leo is a major investment that doesn’t secure any trophies. Mbappe is already a PSG player and he is delivering results right now.
For Wenger, PSG’s strategy moving forward should be a no-brainer. He said the following on beIN Sports: “That is another question because Lionel Messi demands a huge investment. I would say PSG should be more focused on keeping their two best players and invest all the money they have in these two players. Mbappe is 22, the best player in the world maybe or the future best player in the world. When you have the next two best players in the world, you keep them.”
