Kylian Mbappe was happy to see PSG beat Barcelona but says he is not getting carried away despite a convincing win.
On a night where Messi was present at the Camp Nou, Kylian Mbappe stole all the headlines as he inspired PSG to a 4-1 victory.
The game started well for Barcelona with Messi giving them the lead until it all changed.
Mbappe netted a hat-trick in the famous victory before Moise Kean completed the rout late on with a header to turn the game around.
The Frenchman became only the third player ever to score a Champions League hat-trick against Barcelona. In fact, the PSG star was not born the last time a player achieved this feat against the Catalan giants.
PSG are now clear favorites to advance to the quarter-finals but history might say otherwise.
Mbappe was clearly delighted at the victory but insists PSG can not rest on their laurels ahead of the second leg. At this same stage of the competition, Barca turned around a 4-0 deficit against PSG four years ago.
“We are very happy. It was a very important match for us,” Mbappe told RMC Sport.
“We wanted to come here and win. And we did it in style. Now we have an important match on Sunday in the league (at home against Monaco).”
“Tonight, it is magnificent but we have not won anything yet. I am happy. I always want to give the best of myself. I have not always had that success. But never in my life will I hide.”
It would be further good news to PSG that Mbappe also spoke on his future after the game, saying he is happy at the club.
His contract expires in the summer of 2022 and he has been linked with a move to Barca’s biggest rivals Real Madrid in the past.
With Mbappe now seeing his stock rise even further, he might be one of the most wanted men in the summer transfer window.
