A change in the Serie A pecking order beckons as the CIES has tipped Ronaldo and Juventus’ dominance to end.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus won’t win another Serie A title this season, says the CIES Football Observatory, with Inter Milan tipped to pull the curtain on the Bianconeri’s dominance.
Juventus have won the Italian league for the last nine seasons, with Ronaldo helping them win the 2018/19 and 2019/20 titles. But with an eight-point deficit to current leaders Inter, albeit with a game in hand, a 10th consecutive title appears unlikely.
Based on the CIES’ projections, Antonio Conte will bring Inter a first title since 2009/10. AC Milan will finish second, with Juventus and Napoli set to knock Roma out of the top-four for third and fourth place finishes respectively.
The Swiss-based sports research organization based their projection on how the season would end using a statistical model that accounts for a club’s shots on target, attempted and conceded shots inside the box, ball possession, and passes made in games.
