Former England captain John Terry has heaped praise on Mason Mount and backed the 22-year-old to be Chelsea captain someday.
Former England captain John Terry is convinced Mason Mount will someday be named the Three Lions and Chelsea captain.
The youngster has impressed for the Blues this term. John Terry is a well-known lover of the 22-year-old and has once again heaped praise on the midfielder.
Speaking about Mount, the 40-year-old believes he has the credentials to be a future Chelsea and England captain while Grealish and Foden are the ‘two best young players in the world’ at the minute.
Like Terry did during his illustrious career, Mount has risen through Chelsea’s academy ranks before making the grade within the first-team.
The 22-year-old captained the Blues during their FA Cup fourth-round win over Luton. Coincidentally, it was also Frank Lampard’s last game in charge of the club. Terry believes he will be wearing the armband with regularity in the future for club and country.
Speaking on Instagram Live on Wednesday morning, the former Chelsea captain said: “Mason Mount is 100 per cent future Chelsea captain.”
“He’s been the best player at Chelsea this season to be honest.”
“He’s a great lad, trains unbelievably well, is Chelsea through and through and shows leadership qualities.”
“In my mind he’ll be Chelsea and England captain.”
Terry also hailed two other England players as one of the very best in the world.
“When you talk about Phil Foden and Jack, they’re the two best young players in the world at the minute and we’re lucky they’re both English,” he continued.
“He’s 20-years-old and producing great skill and quality in a top side.”
