As a way to respond to the rumors, we finally have a recent update about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract extension as an AC Milan player.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract extension has been the talk of the town in Lombardia, AC Milan needed to give us an update about it. Sporting Director Paolo Maldini just offered the latest on the Swedish striker’s future. They are trying to take it season by season due to the forward’s advanced age but he seems determined to keep playing. Just last weekend, Ibrahimovic scored a brace against Crotone that got him to a historic 500 goals at the club level.

Needless to say, the Rossoneri wouldn’t be where they are right now if it wasn’t for Zlatan’s contribution. Maldini knows how important the Swedish striker is for the Italian giants. As such, his intention is to close the deal for a contract extension as soon as possible. Right now, the club is already starting contract talks with the player’s agent: Mino Riola.

Maldini reveals Zlatan’s contract extension.

For Paolo Maldini, AC Milan can’t afford to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic right now. A legendary player who is still at the top of his game despite pushing 40 years old. The sporting director confirmed contract extension talks today: “We are one of the youngest teams in Europe and we need a leader like Ibrahimovic,” Maldini told BeInSport via Sky Sport Italia.

“We tried to sign him in 2018 when he was playing for LA Galaxy. He’s told us that the contract extension depends on his body, but if he carries on like this, I don’t see why he shouldn’t be continuing. We have three players with expiring contracts in 2022, we are working. There must be to parties happy to continue together, footballers are professional who only think about the pitch, we hope we are going to reach agreements soon.”
